My Kind Of Music Brand New Album
Born in 1970, Declan Aungier began studying the Piano Accordion at the age of 9, but admits that his love for the instrument actually stems back to his early childhood. He became interested in Irish/Scottish Traditional music at age 13 and became All-Ireland Under 18 Piano Accordion Champion in 1987.It was around this time that he began to take an interest in accordion music from all over the globe and the 5-Row Button-Key instrument. He became a professional musician in 1991 and embarked on a career that has taken him all over the world. In 1997 he switched from the Piano Accordion to the 5-Row Button box, which is the instrument he plays today. In recent years his career has had two directions, playing with the Café Orchestra (www.cafeorchestra.com) which specialises in European Café Music, while also making many solo appearances, playing and singing a Country and Irish repertoire along with some Irish Traditional music. Equally skilled on Keyboards, Piano and Guitar, he is also Church Organist in his local village of Rathangan, Co. Kildare. Declan has been a session musician on countless albums, appeared on many T.V. shows and has provided music for a number of radio plays. A skilled composer, he has recorded several of his own accordion instrumental pieces, while his songs have been covered by artists such as Glen Flynn, The Duets and Sean Wilson. His influences are wide ranging, from Jimmy Shand, Dermot O’Brien, The Gallowglass Céili Band and Fintan Stanley, to Stephane Grappelli, Django Reinhardt and Rory Gallagher. Declan has recorded three solo albums: All-Ireland Accordion Champion
(1988) …while also appearing on the Café Orchestra album “The Kilworth Concert” in 2006. The “All-Ireland Accordion Champion (1988)” Album will be re-released in 2007. Declan has a vast repertoire of Irish, Scottish, Country, Continental, Jazz and light Classical music “.…everything from The Stack of Barley to Bach”! In January 2008, Declan left the Cafe Orchestra and embark on a solo career which will see him focus on the Adult and Social Dancing side of his career. Audiences can expect to hear more of his usual energetic selection of Country and Irish music with the flare that only Declan's accordion style can bring. As many of you will know, Declan recorded a tribute to the late Dermot O'Brien in 2007. In February 2008 his song was awarded 'Single of the Year' at the 102FM County & Folk Entertanment Awards. "More than any other artist, Dermot O'Brien has been, and continues to be a huge influence on me, so I felt it appropriate to write and record a tribute song to the great man. For me O'Brien will always be King. " yes folks this one is a must for your cd collection |
