"The Wee Man from Strabane"

Affectionately known as “THE WEE MAN FROM STRABANE”, Hugo Duncan has been singing Country and Irish Songs for a long time.  In the early days Hugo developed a keen interest in music from listening to his mother singing about the house.  His musical journey began when he joined up with some friends to play a weekly date at a local teenage hop.Such was his ability as a performer that Hugo got the position as lead vocalist with The Rhythm Aces whilst still at school.  Hugo continued to enter lots of talent contests.   Hugo was with a band called the Tall Men

Hugo currently works for Radio Ulster presenting his country afternoon show which is very entertaining.  You can always catch up with Hugo at some of the dances with his own band.

Hugo also does Outside Broadcasts in the Summer which are excellent and a great way to catch up with all your favourite Singers.  In The winter Hugo is still doing the outside broadcasts along with the Yellow Bus.

Hugo certainly has a way with entertaining the crowd and an excellent compere.  The quality Hugo Most Admires in others is Honesty.  His early ambition was to be a drummer.

Hugo favourite singers are Brian Coll, Philomena Begley, as someone said to me the other day “IT’S HARD TO BEAT THE OLE SINGERS” My favourite song of Hugo’s is THREE GOOD REASONS.

As Hugo would say “you Will you Will” and don’t forget Your Uncle Hugo Loves Ya!

Tune into Hugo Mon-Fri 13.30-1500 Radio Ulster
