Jim McCann - Ireland's Greatest Love Songs (July 2008)
Jim
McCann hit the No.1 spot in the Irish charts in 1966 with The Ludlows having
ditched his former life as a medical student in UCD and a part-timer in
several showbands in favour of the fledgling Irish folk scene. Having met Luke
Kelly on the theatrical show curcuit, McCann was invited to join The Dubliner
in the early 70's and toured with the group until 1979. Returning as a solo
performer, Jim's courteous vocal treamtment of Grace
brought him back to the top of the charts in 1985 and highlighted his talent
as a sincere and passionate singer of the classic Irish love song. Being the
opening track of this collection, Grace leads a 20
track array of Irish love songs including the hits Easy And Slow,
I Loved The Ground She Walked Upon and
The Fields Of Athenry
